Default Power Levelling services: yes or no?

I've been looking around the web at various things today, news and all. I stumbled upon something that I think lends itself to an interesting discussion and since Gamershell is one of my favourite stops...I figured what the hell!

So, Power Levelling services. Are they a good or bad thing, do they add anything to an MMO or do you think they take away something from those people who bought the game, paid the subscription fee.

Do you think that MMO developers/publishers should have an aggressive stance against this kind of thing?

I assume you mean services that ask money for doing a little hack or whatever to increase the level of someone's character? I am against that, just like I am against those "buy WoW gold" stuff.

Pretty much Richard. Though most of the times it's just people who get access to their account, log in and level them up. I often wonder then, what's the point of paying them to play a game like say Aion, when you've bought it?

I guess I'm just old fashioned in that I want to experience the game myself in all aspects, even if I've beat it and levelled up as high as I can go and I'm on a new build/character.

Getting some 3rd party to powerlevel (or buy gold/gil/whatever) from can easily, and I mean EASILY lead to your account getting hacked and taken over by said 3rd party eventually. Also people who don't level their own characters are generally easier to find than you might think, as they can't find out which side of the sword to push into bad guys (hint: lots think it's the part with the leather handle you kill baddies with).

Yep, since I doubt they have the in-game experience to know what the new skills/powers they have even do.

For me experiencing the game is the main reason that you play a game. That's why I can't understand why people would bother with those stuff. Never tried those and never will.

The same principle applies (I think) to other games. I certainly wouldn't pay a buddy of mine to play Mass Effect or Splinter Cell 3 to the end for me whilst I sat and tried to complete a crossword puzzle.

I like the progression, the chance to learn new things for the character and in the case of say RPGs, the chance to cut loose with awesome spells of destruction. You just don't get that if someone else levels your character.
