Great Asian Comedies

Well, I was going through my DVDs and LPs to see what movie to watch. Since I've been watching only horror, Gun slinger and fighting movies I wanted to see something more easy. Well, as I checked through them I remembered how great "Swing Girls" and "My Sassy Girl" was back then. So I was checking them out to see if they passed the test of time.

First of: Both movies are still exellent and havn't lost their touch at all. While "My Sassy Girl" seemed to be a lil bit cheesy at the end it was still a blast. Swing Girls is still a great movie from the start to the end, especially if you're a Jazz fan as I am.

My Sassy Girl is about a dude who is accidently been taken as the boyfriend of a drunken girl, who called him honey in the subway. He wanted to leave her in the subway station but then decides to take her into a motel to sleep off her flag. From there on it goes pretty downhill for that young fella. While being happy to be with such a cute gal(and yes, she is a babe) he is also confused by her. She constantly tells him what he can drink, eat or does. Not only dominates him totally on that she also constantly beats the crap out of him every now and then. The Movie (I got the Director's Cut) is splitt in 2 halfs, which doesn't really matter but gives the movie a nice touch. The Movie starts off with him telling his childhood years: His parents wanted to have a girl, so they raised him as a girl. He thought that his penis would get smaller as he grows...that wasn't so thou...hrhrhr...After that it blends over where he and his friends sitting in a cafe/restarant and talking about girls. Alone from that exellent introduction had me laughing a good bit. This is a Comedy Love Story with a good dose of action (mostly from the girl's side) but the love part is rather more a characteristic in this movie and not the typical kiss kiss hug hug syndrom brain-spaz.

Swing Girls is one of my all time favorite, not at last because I'm a hugh jazz fan. It's a bout a group of summer class students (basicly they are crap when it comes to education). To avoid the summer class they join the Brass band, which has food poisened by them by accident. Since there arn't enough to form a Brass Band they decided to be a Jazz band till the Brass Band got well again and they had to go back to summer class. The Music kinda grew on them so they start their own lil Jazz band and eventually get a Jazz teacher...Who is more or less than meets the eye. The movie story itself is kinda ok, nothing to get to hyped about. It's the lil things in this movie that makes it great. It reminds me of when I started playing the sax, good times. This is a slow movie storywise but fast going acting. i know in 10 years I gonna see this movie again and it'll still be great. Some movies just got it.

All in all if someone got tired of those one timer comedies and want something more out of the odenary I would highly recommend those two "by now classics".

I know most of you don't really are into these kinda movies...heck, most of you aren't into any of my movies I introduce to ya. but for the few that are i don't want you to miss out of 2 of asia's finest comedies there is. I should also say that I bought BOTH DVDs by accident and thought first: Oh my, what da crap did i got myself here...oha, I even got the Special and Limited edition, that's twice the pricetag. But I was to lazy to return them so after a while when i went through most others i just threw them into the player so at least i have seen them. One of the few mistakes that turns out to be some of the best things ever happened to me.

The biggest oxymoron of all time would be, a Windows XP Installation awhich never crashes or hangs, in it's Life time! Beat that!
