p.s. wehn you said "attempted" did you mean they got shot in the process
No they told your boys what they wanted, and were informed that since there was not a war in progress, that they would have to go back to Iraq and wait for one to start BEFORE they could surrender
...I honestly don't think they lived to tell about their surrender 'experience'... Those limey soldiers sent them to their deaths if they've turned them back to the border... Doesn't sound like such a smart move to me, especially if the coalition forces want Iraqi soldiers to surrender instead of fighting.

Anyway, Bush just declared an ultimatum to Saddam, so war should start in ~48 hours. God bless Canada for not getting involved tho.... Bucky or any other yanks around here should temporarily move to Canada ASAP... I mean, everything is cheap, we've got nice French hoes and good beer around here, AND there's absolutely no chance to get blown up or something of that sort

begging your pardon their Dennis, but US, British and Canadian troops all showed a very high regard for the lives of enemy soldiers during Desert Storm 12 years ago.

Many, many coalition troops placed their own lives at risk to accept the surrender of Iraqi troops.. what makes you think anything has changed?

IMO.. I would entrust my fate to Tommies before I would jumpy American troops if I were in the Iraqi's shoes. I just have this picture of the Tommies being that much more civilized

"... I say old chap, would you like a spot of tea before you return to your lines?"

Yeah yeah yeah... Still the point is those poor Iraqi soldiers were probably sentenced to death by a military tribunal (as traitors) right after the Tommies sent them back over the border. Not too humane, is it?
