The "DiconnectfromtheInet" is by far the best. But it's a physical protection system. If you're looking for software then I would recommand "Ad-Aware SE". MS AS is not really free. You licened it with Windows

Kinda answered the question yourself.....
You can't go wrong having all 3 programs installed not forgetting spywareblaster.
I wouldn't say any of the programs is more superior as they complement each other ie what spybot misses adware will pick up and vice versa

I use hitman pro (www.hitmanpro.nl) It combines Ad-Aware and Spybot with other free tools as spywareblaster, a trial of Spy Sweeper and some more. Combine that With MS antispyware and you're safe.

Add Ewido into your arsenal. It has a free trial version that is great for helping to clean up a messed up system.

Also this site has some very useful tools. I use Hijackthis! frequently.

Hello,

I don't why this message is shown, actually I don't know much about any anti-spyware,
recently i also used an rogue anti-spyware 'Adware Alert' from The Official Ad-WareAlert Client and this is really very bad, affect my whole system, and can not be easily remove, finally i format my system to remove it..

anyway,
Cheers!!
