Well, there are 2 resolution that makes the HD standarts: 1280 × 720 and 1920 × 1080. While there is
also the 10XX x 5XX it's linda made up res for PC than HD. The thing is that there arn't any 1920 × 1080 Progresive scans, only interlace. There are TVs sold as HD TV but they have only Progresive scans and no High Res but standart res. HD is a resolution norm like VGA or XGA and such. So if you go out and buy an HD screen you have to choose for mid HD 12x7 or High HD 19x10. Well, I'm not sure if it's worth buying one yet but it's sure nice to have one hanging around. Oh yeah, they are only 50/60Hz so there is space to improve on but for a sexy X360 session it's a nice addition ![]()

Shopping for an HDTV is such a nightmare. Not all HDTVs are equal and there's loads of stuff to consider eg resolutions, inputs, scaling...and then there's LCD which are prone to ghosting, plasmas which are prone to burn in, HD-CRTs which just aren't available in the UK, DLP, rear-projection, SED etc etc. Gone are the days when you just picked up a standard CRT with a scart and aeriel socket, and your choices were big or small!
PC monitors are also getting bigger and better now with resolutions that go higher than 1080p, but usually lack TV inputs. It's crazy. Atm I'm in the market for a decent DLP. Ideally I'd get a large LCD PC monitor with PC+TV inputs like DVI and component, and a low response time, but I can't find a decent one. Most UK stores only stock LCDs and plasmas that go up to 720p (some don't) but a lot have bad image quality issues. 720p is good enough for most people, but PC and PS3 can output 1080p or higher. I've not really done that much research, but the only way to make sure you're satisfied is to go into a shop and ask them to hook up a 720p feed like a 360 or high definition video or something, and compare sets. You'll find a lot of them look washed out, blurred, wrongly scaled, and maybe one out of the lot will look decent. Most of the time they have normal definition feeds running through them, which end up looking worse than your standard CRT. It's terrible. But yes some HDTVs aren't the best, so make sure you know what you're getting! :bucky!: ![]() |

well, depense on the cass you'e looking at. don't expect wonders from a 1500€ HDTV. But for 3000
you get some nice stuff. Still the realdeal is still in the XX,XXX wallethugger class. Well, I tried PGR and DoA4 on a 720 and there was no blur or anything. But with a pricetag of 5500 it better not. ![]()
