The slug attack was indeed vicious and brutal, and John was convinced he was a goner, so convinced, in fact, that he gave himself up for dead for the second time in less than an hour.

When he opened his eyes, he noticed the slug vigorously chewing on his right arm, but there was not so much as a scratch to show for the slugs best efforts.

John gave an expiremental flick of his arm, but the slug seemed determined to gnaw through his arm, and considering he was not making any headway, this could take a while.

John gave a resigned sigh, and set off yet again in search of a shower, occasionally whacking the slug trailing from his arm against the wall for amusement.

After trying several doors, he finally managed to get one of them to iris open onto a promising looking living area.

"Here we go, I'll bet there is a nice shower in here somewhere.", John informed the slug, and entered the room scanning for the bathroom. He hadn't managed more than two steps when a Maogalaraioan Smairpole Beast leaped from behind the cover of a couch wielding a Mega-Blast 2000 Blaster Cannon and immediately opened fire!

The fusillade of cannon fire turned the air around John and the slug into plasma, the walls and floor puddled under the intense heat and the Maogalaraioan Smairpole Beast (they have never been known for their intellect) evaporated when the floor under him turned molten.

John and the slug observed all of this happening without so much as singed hair. Bemused, John raised his arm so that he could look the slug in the eye and said, "Right! Something is amiss" and with that turned around and waded through the molten plasteel flooring back out into the hallway.

"Hey!" exclaimed John, "At least we don't smell anymore, now where the hell is my ship?"

The slug gave no answer.
