The M-16 is hardly a crappy rifle. Whereas the enemy might have high caliber rifles that will kill yours ass quickly, the M-16 isn't necissarily designed to kill you right away. The philosophy is if your dead, your dead and in the heat of battle, you need no attention. Now if you're severly wounded, your buddies have got to drag your defensless butt to cover. For every man you wound, you take two more men out of the fight. The M-16 fires 22's because they shatter inside your body and wound you. (sometimes kill, but usually only at close range) Also, the ammo is light weight therefor you can carry more of it. Give me an M-16 over an AK anyday.

When I was in Afghanistan each platoon had one sharpeshooter who carried an M14 with a 4x scope and a sythetic stock. Most everyone else carried M-4s even the spec ops guys. Some of the CIA and Delta guys carried modified M-4s that were able shoot 7.62 magazines from an AK-47 or other "bannana clips". Just cause a weapon looks cool don't mean it is a good weapon, case in point the H&K MP5, no stoping power and has to be re tuned every 5,000 rounds by an experienced armorer, thats why all the spec ops units stoped using them and went to the trusty M4 and even M16 in some cases.

The M16 is just as lethal as many higher caliber rifles, it tumbles when it enters the body and blows a large hole out of the back of the target. Some guys would put 4 or 5 rounds into a dude before he would go down even thought he first shot was fatal, they seem to die less quickly when shot whith an M16 or an M4 but they die just the same. An M16 has an effect range of 500meters on a point target, try getting that out of an AK47.

Oh and does anyone know the name of the full auto sniper rifle in COD? That is probably the best weapon I've ever used in a game, reminds me of a 240Bravo. :thumbup:

And also, ive fired the rifle below, but on a fixed single shot, was still cool though, not alot of recoil though (Strensall, England)

You sound dissapointed that it didn't have alot of recoil.

I got to go outside of a safehouse in Afghani with a buddy from the scout ploatoon and shoot the Barret 50 cal niper rifle. That was bad ass. You ain't shot shit though till you've shot a TOW Missle, LOL, that is the SHIT! You pull the trigger and hear a click, then about 2 seconds latter the biggest expolion you've ever heard goes off 6 inches from you're head. The issle shoots out and drops almost to the ground then the rockets kick in and jumps up abit, straightens out, and takes off fast as hell. The whole time you've controling it with an electronic sight that gives you an image that we used to call "predator vision", when you're guiding the missle in it feels just like you're playing classic BattleZone. The missle hits, you see a flash, then see some metal fly and then a huge explosion just sorta rolls over you, if you're close enough to the blast you can actually watch the shockwave of air rolling at you, then it goes over you and you hear the blast loud as ever. Everyone is just kinda quiet after shooting one of those. It becomes kind of an emotional experience when you realise what you just did after having blown a freakng tank 6ft into the air. Damn that gives me chills just thinkin about it.

Oh and the M2 50cal. is the shit to fire too but the MK19 automatic grenade launcher is was more badass, thats some bigass fire power. LOL :thumbup:

I was more surprized than anything else, seens the guy who showed us how to use it was a pussy, he took the recoil like actuall bullets to his chest

Bougt it back then from a russian soldier who was moving back to the Motherland. Paid 50 DM for it and shot with it twice, sinse then it is only lying around collenctin dust :dennis:

Oh yeah, the pic is not from my SVD, my SVD is still clean and the wood is not that dark, but it was the best picture I could find to post, I guess the sodier I bougt it of never really had the chance of using it:P
