"The terrorist, Saddam Hussein, the biggest terrorist on earth, has been arrested," said Hamid Ali al-Kifaey. "He will be tried before a special court in Iraq soon. With his arrest the Iraqi people will begin a new life, and hopefully they will have a democratic and pluralistic system and no more mass graves, and no more Saddam Hussein and no more terrorism."
I smell populism in these words. ... and I still think that a nuclear carpet bombing of the whole middle east would be the best sollution to their problems. :bucky!:

Exactly when and where did Bush ever say that?
I think he's referring to when Bush declared the war in Iraq as over, as in there is no longer any organized military force opposing us. We all know that the terrorist factions have inflicted far more damage than the Iraq military did, and i fail to see how Saddam's capture will change this. Most of the groups weren't fighting in some vain hope of restoring Saddam to power, but rather because they hate the US and want them out of the country. If that is the case, then Saddam's capture means little if anything to them.

OTOH, now that they have him, and he's cooperating, maybe they can figure out the truth about the WMDs. Or maybe they'll have to realize that the WMDs were all in Bush's head. Guess we'll just have to wait and see......

Exactly :thumbup:

One more thing - do you yanks think your government gives a shit about the democratic rights of the towelheads down in Iraq? It's all about the oil there. In the base of every war there are someone's economic interests.

They are sending your young fellow Americans to get shot so that someone can get richer.

I think I preferred the times when there were two great powers (USA and USSR) and they were very careful not to step on each-other's toes. Now USA just decides and invades souvereign countries.

War can not get the world rid of terrorists - it only creates more of them. If the US had invested the money they spent on weapons in the Thirld World to make things there a little better there, there would probably not be any terrorist attacks in the first place.

The more USA wander around the world with their guns blazing, the more terrorists they will create. Because when you have the great US Army as your enemy, the only option you have to strike back is terrorism... and regrettably that's how innocent civilians get killed

What's more it is far easier to create a suicide bomber or airplane-hijacker when he is poor and has nothing to lose. Try persuading a well-to-do man to commit suicide for near any cause and you will get the finger...

::sigh::

Bush wasn't the one that claimed Iraq had WMD, it was the UN. Read the UN resolutions that were in place a decade before Bush took office.

The UN considered it a foregone conclusion that Hussein had WMDs, it was the job of the inspectors to find them.

Sheesh folks, if you hate Bush, fine. But at least get it straight what he says/does and don't make it up.

I really believe his capture will slow the violence, he was caught with 7,500 100 dollar bills, in Iraq that would buy a lot of attacks. The biggest resistance has always been Bagdad, Tikrit and Mosul, places where he dumped lots of money on the Sunni clans. Now that hes seen as just a tired old man scratching the lice in his beard, his hold over most of Iraq will disappear. Our bigggest mistake so far I think, was dropping something like 100 million leaflets encouraging peaceful surrender. When most of the army dropped their guns and ran. We basicaly said "Thanks, but your all fired." Now we have whole divisions with total unemployment thinking "what the hell do I do now." Especialy now with Saddam gone we need to form a kind of National Guard that can begin helping with re-construction. Then when the projects near completion they can transform into regular army for national defense. Then we can begin to bring our boys home.
Half should come home right away, 50-60 thousand troops should head straight to the Afghan/Pakistani border and comb those hills until we find that b*****d Osama. BTW its not just the oil or the US would require repayment of the billions of taxpayer money that we we are spending on reconstruction.
Id prefer that my tax dollars are not given to a French or German company whose governments not only did not share the risk of the conflict, but protested most strongly against military action. Call me crazy I guess... :angel:
