Find any post of mine in the last few months...
I made it very clear some time back that I was sick and tired of all of the US bashing going on in these forums.

Bucky, correct me if I am wrong, but I remember that you were a huge proponent of the war in Iraq. If you really need me to find the posts where you stated your support for the USA administration and Bush, I can do that. I just don't know why I need to do that - after all you've been here for a while and can use the "search" option ;)
|
I haven't commented on the situation in Iraq for some time, I talked about it before we went in and as the Iraqi government fell. That has been some 6 months ago? Reread that section you quoted from me and especially what I bolded so that you might actually see it.

And if you're tired of US bashing - write / call your senator and get your troops out of Iraq and stop this senseless war. Even silent support for the administration makes you as guilty as they are.
|
If the coalition left Iraq today, the country would plunge into a bloody civil war and likely end up in the state that the Soviets left Afghanistan.

US forces made daytime precision bombing raids against strictly military targets.

Good point.
Should have specified that I was strictly referring to the ETO.

America is the only country I am aware of, that will use 500 lb concrete "bombs" Because it will destroy armour just as efficently as a 500 lb bomb, without the collateral damage of the homes the armour is being hidden among.(when possible) Our military will bend over backwards to spare civilians. Only after dozens of attackers dressed up as women to get close enough to our soldiers, did they begin to protect themselves better. Mistakes are being made. And I believe Bremer and the military are doing the best job they can.
Bucky is correct that we cannot leave immediately. Iraq has had an iron fist rule for more than 30 yrs and must be assisted for a while yet. The Sunnis must accept the Shite majorities governance(not going to happen soon) And the Shites must provide the Sunnis protections from revenge.(right!) And Iran can stay the hell out of it...Syria should cough up some of the WMDs they may have taken for safekeeping. Turkey needs to stop sniffing around the north. They need some form of national defense. A somewhat ethical police force. America is accused of fighting wars in other countries to avoid fighting in our own country. Perhaps we are guilty as charged. However, as a citizen with children to raise, I have to prefer the ugliness stay as far away as possible. Sorry, just selfish that way I suppose.

Heh... just to stay on course with my current "factual" crusade, I need to offer a correction here, ByNd3R.
It is in fact the British that developed the concrete bomb concept (as best I am aware of), which is a genius idea! I first became aware of this weapon in a BBC article that was published in the last few days before Baghdad fell.
So, I guess it's us and the Brits that would use a weapon like that

We've always incorprated the best the British military has to offer. I stand corrected.

Yeah, it's a pretty ingenious weapon. Let's just hope they won't be throwing them in big quantities anyway ;)

My understanding was that it was developed as a kinetic tank killer to be used in Baghdad when we were worried about a big battle there.
Fortunately for all concerned it wasn't necessary to use it in that capacity. As far as I am aware, they haven't been using them since, but then again, they don't exactly fill me in on weapons expenditures ;)
