Just shoot me I guess. I am probably more independent than Democrat but WTF? A proven liar is re-elected? A president who wants to reduce overtime pay. Who takes every opportunity to make Oregons "Death with Dignity" law illegal.(So much for states rights) Would love to outlaw abortion? Who spent 48% of his first term at his ranch in Crawford Texas. Im looking at the Canadian Embassy's website at regaining my citizenship. Id like to be gracious, but Im just so pissed right now. WTF!

Any comments?

I feel sorry for you guys over there, you had the choice between a chimp-like religious fanatic who wants to resurrect the crusades or a lying war hero who is about as exciting as nothingness in a black hole...

Saying that its not that much better here in the UK...

I hereby refrain from any remarks on the average IQ of the average American...

... this leaves me with nothing to say, actually. :Oo:

No point in getting snotty Grey...

The average American voter is far more informed than any of you Euros about our politics.

You all look at the US president from 1 dimension: foreign affairs. That was only a minor facet of the presidential campaign.. yes, I did say minor. There were far more complex issues at stake than you Euros are aware of.

If you don't agree with our choice, fine. But you have no real clue as to why he was re-elected, so please refrain from belittling our intelligence.

Right on Bucky. All I can say is Bush got my vote. Though it doesn't even matter because I live in the Democratic reigned California.

...

Bucky, how about the "small" issue of economics in which Bush didn't fare too well in the last four years (overall job loss in the country, support for outsourcing American jobs, tax cuts benifiting the rich and big corporations, American dollar going down the crapper comparing to almost any other currency -- not counting the Iraqi dinarii)? According to all the polls I've seen he has less than 50% of population supporting his decisions as to when it comes to these issues...

How about health care (I'll use Dems' propaganda: "soaring health care prices, over 5 million people have lost their medicare coverage under Bush administration")? Stem cell research ban? His anti-abortion views that he tries to force on others?

So no, sorry, we're not looking at it from the perspective of foreign affairs alone... As a matter of fact, most, if not all things I've mentioned above didn't play in Bush's favour at all during the campaign... What did he consistently beat Kerry in (acccording to polls, once again...)? Anti-terrorism and *gasp* war in Iraq....

So if in polls most Americans agree that economics and health care are not his strong suit, and yet he gets re-elected on the basis of his foreign affairs program (War on terror and war in Iraq).... Maybe this will you something about the intelligence of the average American after all? ;) :P

P.S. I'm too lazy to find and link these polls (USAToday/CNN/Gallup, etc...) but I'll gladly do that if you've never seen them

Yes, Bucky, you are absolutely right. I'm sure that the average Ammerican is more informed (or at least more misinformed) than me about the presidential internal activities (if any), because I simply don't care...

... and yes - we judge him by his foreign affairs... if he was dropping bombs on YOUR heads, we wouldn't bother, since it would have been an internal affair...

Anyway - congratulations! Whoever the president, you've elected him, you'll have to live with him for the next 4 years...

... I actually don't care about both of them.

And I didn't say anything about the IQ of the average American... I EXPLICITELY didn't say anything about it.

EDIT: ... but simply out of curiousity... because you are an insider, after all, would you vaguely sketch out for us non-Americans why Bush should be realected... but don't take it as some sort of a challenge or something... I don't care that much as to get into a discussion on the subject...
