Movie: Catch me if you can

I've never been a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio. In fact, I'll admit to having given him some rather unkind nicknames. Regardless of that, Leo's two recent movies Catch Me If You Can and Gangs of New York are pretty popular, and a couple of days ago I saw Catch Me If You Can.

The plot starts with Frank Abagnale Jr (played by Leo), his father and mother living in what seems like happiness. We gradually find out that their wealth has decreased, especially because of Leo's father's (who is played by Christopher Walken) strange sense of finance. To make matters worse, the parents get a divorce, but instead of moving in with one of them Frank decides to move out. You see, after discovering that appearances often dictate how people look at you, Frank saw a potential way of income. Frank continues to improve his skills as a conman, until Carl Hanratty (played by Tom Hanks) starts going after him.

The movie itself is quite entertaining. Leo does a great job as Frank, and I can't really think of anyone who could've done a better job. Frank needed to be charming, and able to play as both a 15 and a 28-year old. Christopher Walken is okay in his role, but in my opinion someone could've pulled if off even better. Tom Hanks also impresses in his role, but even if his southerner accent is 'unusual', he pulls off the role as the not very charming fbi agent who's so easy to dislike. The script had a couple of weird moments that didn't seem overly natural, but in general it flows nicely.

With Catch Me If You Can, Steven Spielberg proved that he could direct a comedy, so we can only hope he'll do more in the same genre in the future.
