Piss and moan

I know I have bitched about this before but, I am going to do it again. The HOMM V open beta was supposed to be out on teh 19th but was delayed because of what they say was because of bugs I, however, believe it was delayed cause of the GW free weekend. Then, it was supposed to be out today at 6pm UK time. 8 hours before it was due, there was an announcement, as far as I can tell through the forum members and not from UBi, that it wil be on Gamespot for three days first. Now anyone that has been here for a while knows how much I hate sites that make you sucscibe to get things that should be free. Needless to say, the people in the UBI forums are pisssed! As they should be. There are a few exceptions like the beta helpers. These guys have been playing in the closed beta for a while now and are defending this shitty decision to the end so they dont get booted from testing. Not only that, they threatin to ban people who are really pissed and are voicing it on the forums. Sounds like a tactic that the StarForce people use. And if you dont know, UBI is known for using starforce.

I am not a huge fan if UBI just because they always use SF but, I was willing to give them another shot cause I love the HOMM series. This whole beta thing is just crap. A lot of ppl seem to be pissed that UBI did not say anything about the FP thing until the day it will be out. The helpers keep insisting that they didnt know that it was not going to be open until today. I find this very hard to believe. You just dont decide to use shitty pay services to get money 8 hours before its due! No one is going to convince me otherwise.

I will have more to say on this as time goes by.

From what i played (The Alpha version). It looked very kiddish and the interface was probably designed for a bloody 5 year old. Combat is ok, but the whole complexity look of the game is gone.

Oh Lord! Where to start. I can not begin to descibe the hatred I have for Ubisoft and paysites at the moment. After reading the ubi forums for the past three days, I just dont wanna buy the next installment of HOMM anymore. Not because of the game itself, I really think it will be good however, I just have a deepseeded hatred for ubi, those retarded beta "helpers" and paysites!

Let me say this first, I do love the series and am looking forward to it sort of(it has SF :rant: ) and I will probably not put this as eloquently as I should casue of anger First off the starforce thing: I hate it! End of discussion. It is malware and no one can convince me otherwise. Ubi is notorious for stickin this piece of shit on all thier games. And as far as I can tell from the forums, a lot of ppl are having problems with it. There are better ways to protect your software ubi! I really want 3d0 to have this title back or EA buy ubi out cause this blows not to mention the fact the ubis "marketing" decision was just horrid! Which brings me to my second point: Pay sites(dirty word, I know). I reallllly despise this practice. Paying a monthly fee to get demos or into betas first is NOT a good marketing move by any company! The beta part is the worst! Sure, its a beta and things are not perfect but not everone who sees beta will understand not a demo! Having ppl pay to check for bugs and such is insane! I dont know how anyone thinks this is a good idea! That's like Ford letting you test drive a prototype car for $300 to crash it and tell them what went wrong! The demo thing is almost as bad. Demos are to get your game noticed. Its called marketing! Some ppl really need a lesson in that! Lemme see, I think Ill pay for a demo then go pay for the game. What a croc of shit! Thirdly: I am really gettin sick of there "helpers" on the ubi forums. There are a couple in peticular but, I wont tell you thier nicks yet. Now in case you dont know, helpers are the one that have been in the closed beta and have been plaing a while. They are not moderators or anything as far as I can tell. These guys have their head so far up ubis ass, I cant tell where ubi ends and they begin! The answer questions the same way over and over! When it was announced(8 hours b4 the OPEN beta was supposed to begin that it would be on those piss ass paysites first) the only answer these jackasses kept coming up with was "it was a marketing desicion and they had no idea" Bullshit! You dont fornicate you loyal fans over in less than 8 hours! This desicion was made well b4hand. Money and a good pre/review have a lot to do with this I know. They threaten to ban ppl cause they defend SF saying it does nothing, they dont help anyone as far as I can see, and they are basically Ubis bitch as far as I can tell cause ubi or nival sure is shit not saying anything! They also think that wainting the three days is not a bad thing! Really? You morons have been playing it for months of course you dont think its too bad. And yes, I would have preferred no bet as compared to this bs.

And the worst part about this is, this "marketing" decision is working cause ppl are actually paying the fornicateen $7 to play! Now, all that being said, my father is up from North Carolina to visit his mother who is not doing so hot in the hospital. While he is staying at my place and we are huge HOMM fans(we both own all of them) we were looing forward to playing the beta throgh the week. That has basically takin a big dump so we are playing 4 instead. I will get the beta when it becomes open,finally, just for the reason above.

I do want, and I cannot stress this enough, this damn beta on GH at all! I am not the boss so, I can not stop it if it goes on the homepage. I can, however, keep it off the forums.
