Disney Bans Smoking in Films

Disney branded films have banned any depiction of smoking. Now, even though I don't agree with this, I can kinda understand where they are coming from. However, the part that reallly pisses me off is "...that the studio would place anti-smoking public service announcements on DVDs of any future films that feature cigarette smoking." and "He said the company would encourage theater owners to show screen anti-smoking public service announcements, or PSAs, before such films."

It is bad enough that smokers are treated like lepers and have been banned from smoking in offices, restaurants, and even bars in some places, and they even edited out smoking in old cartoons in the UK but now, we have to endure anti smoking psa's at the movies and in the DVD's we rent or buy! This is starting to border on insane! We all know smoking is not good for you as it is plastered in a new place every damn day! Isn't this America though? Land of the Free? What the hell happened to that? Where is my freedom to smoke in a bar that I have done for 17years? I really don't think these movie studios should have the right to tell us what is good or bad for us. Their job is to entertain me not shove an anti smoking PSA up my ass!

From the deepest part of my bowels, I hope Disney and any studio that follows suit, looses a buttload of money for the next 20 years!

This is another problem I have! As some of the original Disney cartoons had smoking in them, I can almost guarantee they will change it before the show it again! Just like Lucas did with Star Wars and Indiana. Just because 20 years down the line you rethink what you did does not give you the right to go and change it!

I really hate the way things have been going lately in regards to smoking. Not too fond of the way things are going with video games either but, that is a different piss and moan.

How hard is it to let the parents decide what their kids can and can't see? Why is it that corparations think they have to impose their shitty view on everyone else?

As far as I am concerned, Disney can fuck themselves. I don't need someone telling me what my kids should think is bad!

It's like you're almost asking them to smoke by putting in a big screen that says "Remember kids, smoking is bad!".
