Gmail Spam

Is it just me or does a gmail account you use a lot get spammed more than any other? I swear, the ghcontest@gmail gets hammered with spam and no matter how many times I tell it to delete forever, the same shit will be there an hour later! This is one thing I hate about gmail! If you use it a lot, it will get crammed with spam, if you don't use it that much, then all is good. I would love for someone to explain why that is. My yahoo and hotmail accounts dont get hit this hard with spam and I have had them for years!

They reallly need to do something about that shit!

Personally I don't see a difference. The spam I get hit with is always from trusting the wrong people with my info.

Maybe they have a deal with companies...
It wouldn't surprise me, they give you a lot of storage space, why not give your email address to spam lists...?

Maybe because you post your gmail account all over the forums?

I used to do that to one of my buddy.

Gmail does alot better than hotmail (or live). It's just that you post your email alot on forums that get up on top with alot of searches fast.
What you can do is add a link to the top of every page that sends it to a site that keeps the bot going on for ages and ages, making sure they can't find your email, unless they actually go for that :P

I have had a hotmail account for 10 years or so and I don't have to deal with any spam whatsoever. In fact, I never have a problem with spam on my personal accounts, it just seems to be at work, where thousands of pounds are spent on hardware assisted anti-spam solutions...

... Did I mention I work for a company, www.marshal.com, where we develop industry leading email and Internet security solutions, like anti-spam?...

Why would gmail need to sell your addy? They have all those ads that show on the page that change when you open your mail. It looks for key words in youe e-mail and sets up ads dased on the context of the letter. That's where they get the money for your account.
