Here's another little rant. This time it's Edge's turn. Sometimes when I'm waiting for the boat home I read through some gaming magazines, such as Edge. I respect Edge for being a professional looking magazine, with good in-depth articles, but what the hell is wrong with their reviews?? In the latest issue for instace they gave Splinter Cell a score of 7, and Vice City 8. Robotech: Battlecry also got 7. Is there something strange here? You betcha.
So, you could wonder. A well respected magazine obviously has a good editor, who is very much aware of the scores they give to high-profile games. So, do they oppose every other review on the planet just to do it? Sure, everyone's allowed to have their oppinion about a game, but saying that Splinter Cell deserves a score of 7 is wrong. Additionally Edge also gave Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring a score of 2. Obviously, the game was flawed and could've been better in almost every aspect, but 2?? Giving a score of 2 would in my book mean it's on par with a beta version of Daikatana. I wish Edge would stick to interviews and articles, and refrain from short, blatant reviews that serve no purpose.

Daikatana Rocks!
[/sarcasm] Perhaos the reviewer is a natural racing game enthusiest or avid RPG'r who thinks that 3rd person and 1st person shooter games all suck and are for the intellectually deficient. That person's view on the game would be skewed going in. Only thing I can think of to justify it personally. Everything I hear Splinter Cell is at the lowest a 9. Now my rant for the day..... Why is MTV still on the air? Where is the "music" in the "Music TeleVision"? I will give them the Osbournes because, well that is funny as hell, but they play no music, and the little they do is crap. Their newest genious idea? To film moviegoers. Grantd it is really nice of them to give those free screenings of the Two Towers..... but who wants to be bugged with cameras at the most climactic point in the movie? "Movie House" is another of their lame attempts that make no sense. They video you going in then ask you what you think of it while you are watching it? Have we gotten so lazy that now we cant even go watch a movie for ourselves, we have to watch other people watching the movie and see their reactions? MTV = teh suck! /bow |
