You definately won't get a satisfactive experience playing call of duty 2 with those vid-card and those specs.

I prevously(before it burned up on me) had a 9800 pro video card, 128 MB, and I was able to run COD2. It was choppy in some parts of the campaign, when theres 50 guys on the screen, but it was definatley playable. You might be able to find one for less than $100

I found one for $104-->Newegg.com is your friend

I found one for $80 (on sale)

I dont think I would go with anycard less than the 9800 pro having played COD2 with it.
    I hope this helps you.

Download the latest 5.11 softmod package-----> CLICK ME!

On another note, some peeps may remember i flamed my old 7800gtx 256mb a few month back. I swore i'd never buy Nvidia again, well, that was before the release of xfx 7800gtx xxx 512mb
Although a marked improvement over the 256mb version, i couldn't justify the price/performance so i sold it within a week (for a fair bit more than i payed). COD2 and FEAR were the rubber stamp (so to speak) that made my mind up to sell the card. If i ran both games at max settings (even@1024x768) it wouldn't result in a smooth enough gaming experiance. I realise the 2 titles are classed as next gen, but its no less of a shitter when you can't max them out on a next gen g-card! I figured i'd sell the card/have a good christmas, and see what R580 brings in the new year. (for the record, at least in my experiance ati>nvidia with far superior IQ, but thats a different thread all together)

@Snapshooter, if you suceed softmodding your se don't expect to much out of COD2, this way you won't be too disappointed.

thanks, well ive never played a next gen game so i guess im not expecting too much from the game. but to get the optimum performance without breaking the bank what video card would that be?

i found some i guess within the medium price range. i was able toextend my budget due to an early xmas cash gift. Can anyone recommend any of these? id appreciate it thanks

    Hi,
I'd steer clear of ATI's 9600 series(way too last gen). The 6800XT is a cut down 6800 and will probably peform less than a 6600GT, but not by much. The 6800 is faster than the 6600GT but again not by much making the 6600gt way better value.

Personally i'd go with the x800gt. It has a R480 based core(x850xt/pe)so i expect it has fair bit of overclocking headroom. Also its the only card that you've linked with 256mb of memory which will help alot in newer games.

If i had to buy one of the Nvidia cards i'd go with PNY Geforce 6600GT since its probably got the best price/performance ratio.
