The 6600GT is trash, and most models aren't available in 256MB of ram (it has 128MB).. which is complete trash, and the sad thing is, its comparable to the ATi 9800Pro which is way older than a 6600GT, I'd Despite its higher Core and Memory clocks, it only has 128-bit mem interface, making it completely incompetent. And it only has 8 Pipelines?!?! the x1600Pro/XT has at least 12 pipelines, 512MB of memory, althought it has 128-bit mem interface as well, it makes up for it in pipelines, and Memory size, being it has 512mb of it. But the 6600GT offers GDDR3, as the x1600Pro/XT offers GDDR2/3 depending on what brand you purchase. Nvidia 6600GT's vary in supporting OpenGL 1.5 and 2.0 depending on what brand you buy, and the Radeon supports 2.0. So really I think it all comes down to preference... personally I'd go with the ATi. Hope this helps.Originally posted by Takeyutso@Aug 8 2006, 01:07 AM

If so i'm doomed in the hands of a 7300GS![]()
Happy Happy man![]()
And no, I haven't seen anywhere where both of these cards require a minimum 420W PSU, although having 420W of power is nice
- MSI 865G Neo2
- P4 Prescott 3.2Ghz @ 3.46Ghz 800Mhz FSB 1mb L2 Cache
- 1.5 gig Corsair Platinum Twinx XMS Dual Channel Ram, Latency 2-2-2-5 @ 2.8V
- ATi Radeon x800XL 256mb AGP @ Stock Speeds - 6.8 Catalyst
- SB Audigy 2 ZS Gamer LE 7.1 24-bit Audio Processor
I am guessing by your comments, you dont have a 6600. I have a 6600 256(pic-e) and it runs every game perfectly! And its not even the gt! Dont get me wrong, I looove nvidia, not so much ati. The clock speed and pipes you just rambled off are not really that interesting to a person that is not tecnical, such as myself.
Like you said, it really comes down to preference. I prefer nvida for games and unless amd does something radical with ati, always willOf course price drivers should come into play as well. Although, nvidia might have the price advantage, I keep hearing ati drivers cause a lot of problems. My vote goes for nvidia

Thanks for the reply, Well the thing is i want my money to be spended great, and dont have the feeling someone played and trashed with it, so it i smost like for that it will be the best card for the money, the x1600xt, but i will wait with confirming this.
Thing i'm scared off is like with the old nvidia 5700 series (You know, the hogs) is extra connectors for big PSU's
Are those still being used?
Replace the 1600 with this one

No humor?
I wouldnt trust a 350 watt PSU though.
