I just got Gothic 3 and i quickly installed it.

The game is very good but it's kinda working slow dunno why i have:

    MSI 8728 Neo2 intel-based board
    Pentium 4 3.00 GHZ HT
    1.5 GB DDR RAM
    Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT (oc'ed)
    250GB SeaGate Barracuda

And i get small amount of fps i don't understand Oblivion works very good and it has better graphics than Gothic 3.

Overall the game is very good and i hope the story will be as good as in gothic 2. I just love Gothic 2 but not because of its graphics or gameplay but a brilliant and superb storyline. No game can come close to gothic 2 if we look at the storyline, second most successful story at least for me is Mafia. Well that's my opinion. What do you think ?

    Bye take care.

It is a very good game, but you need to open the ini files and make sure you have the SM3.0 renderer enabled, as this will be a more optimal setting. Also on your card dont turn the graphics on to high, your GPU is not powerful enough to be quite honest.

Gothic 3 isn't the best programmed game...like the other 3 gothic games. we'll have to wait for a shitload of patches till it runs fine. all in all it's a great game and while the graphics is a bit behind Oblivion i like the overall atmosphere much better in G3

    File is C:\Program Files\Gothic III\Ini\G3.ini

    Look for the line
    Code:
    Shader.CurrentShaderVersion=
and make sure it is set to 3_0. Mine defaulted to 2_0 for whatever reason and it definetly helped the FPS.

I think the graphics are very nice, but you have to remember that oblivion has to load all the indoor sections all the time, whereas so far on my G3 game it hasnt, but I dont know if it does later on.

The gameplay is excellent though and the fighting system is brilliant fun.

Don't start. this game is one big problem, and the developers managed to do that to all 3 of the gothic series. fighting is a pain in the ass, too. A pig kills you easier than an army of orcs.

GM, does that shader thingy improve fps/stability? i need everything i can get to make this game run stable, its horrid.

don't count on hi-end graphics, but it should be able to run. that is, if it was developed like a decent game.

im checking your input now GM, thanks.

The second patch should be out pretty soon, and they obviously have more coming.

I've been a huge fan of the series since Gothic 1 (which easily had the best story), and while I'm disappointed with the bugs and some of the design choices I can't stop playing it. Review coming after the upcoming patch is out.

If you understand german you can download Gothic The Movie from the Gothic homepage. It's an over 2 hour long flick using the original speakers of the first gothic game. then you can play gothic 2 plus addon which is for free (at least in germany it came with some game mags). and then hit Gothic 3. i would recommand to watch the movie if you havn't played the first game, otherwise you might not understand some of the story elements. and forget playing Gothic 3 with anything less than a X1900. even on that one it gets shakey some times.

Yeah, the erea is loaded as whole pieces which is a big plus over the constant loading from oblivion...but when it's loading you better have a good movie by your side sinse it takes ages.
