LCD Monitors for gaming

The problem I am seeing is I have a Dell 2405 Monitor, my friend has a 19 inch display and when I play on his machine (same specs as mine) his game moves faster and I actually "hit" what I am aiming at. When I play the same games on my machine I do not hit where I am aiming at and it does not seem as colorful. Does this make much sense?

Which LCD monitors are great for FPS games? I would like to pick a new one up from newegg.

Well, the resolutions differ, the Dell 2405 is good enough, and should play as good as the 19". Then again what game did you guys try? if it's Crysis, i can perfectly understand because 19" can only go up to 1280x1024, which is an alot lower resolution ;)

Well when I played on his monitor in BF2 I did not have to adjust for lag or anything. I would zoom out with the sniper rifle and fire and hardly ever miss. Now on mine I aim (same server, same ping, same machine, different monitor) and I have to kinda guess on the where to shot in front of the enemy. No idea why. I purchased my machine after playing on his machine and built the exact same machine. I am just not getting the same experience and the only thing that is different is the monitor.

You should look for a monitor of Acer. Prices and "performance" differ, so take good inquiries into the specifications of their models. By the way, in case of a 19 inch monitor, you shouldn't go over a resolution of 1280x1024. Accuracy is a matter of just a few pixels, so if the resolution is higher than what is recommended for the size of your monitor, it will be hard to stay "pixelwise".

So maybe it is because I am playing the game at 1650x1080 on the 24 inch Dell? Maybe I should try a resolution that is allowed in game?

I'd say you just had a good day while playing at your friends house monitor is a monitor unless its 20ms shit it shouldn't matter

No, just play at the monitor's native resolution. And make sure your monitor has a high refreshing speed (a good gaming monitor needs 6 ms or lower)

And richard, most acer screens are cheap and not that good, i'd rather stay with a dell, which is alot better. Though some of the newer black acers do a good job. :P

Last night I tried to play the game on 1280x1024 at 75 HZ. (on the Dell 2405) And it is basically the same thing. I shoot at people that do not even know I am there and miss miss miss. On my old computer I would connect very consistantly and on my friends computer I would hit very consistantly. It is just not fun. When I would normally score 50+ points as infantry, I now am lucky to score 30. Very disapointing to spend 2000 dollars on a new PC and it just not be right. It plays the new games great so I guess I will just move to COD4 when it comes out next week.

I tried it at 1900x1200 but it looked so stretched out it was not even fun to look at. I might try changing my mouse settings on my Death Adder or trying the Nvidia beta drivers.
