    Default My PC(I'm a newb)

I'm an avid css player but want to more on to bigger and better things... I;ve finally upgraded from my laptop. YAY.

Unfortunately I bought the mobo, ram, and cpu off a buddy.(There may be heat damage) Random things happen. Like problem with internet connectivity when hooked straight to the modem. The rest is new..I can put my settings from low to full blast on CSS without a change in fps. Usually from 60-120. My vid stress test on CSS was 137.
COD4 I barely get over 100 with full settings. Possibility of bottlenecking?
    My specs....

    Asus m2n32 sli deluxe
    AMD 4200 2.2 ghz
    1 - evga 8800 gt 512 mb
    2 gigs Corsair ddr2 800
    western digital 250 gig HD
    Antec 500w psu

I've gone ahead and ordered a new mobo and cpu.

new specs will be....(when cpu gets here)

    Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L ATX LGA775 P35 1333FSB 1PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 3PCI SATA2
Intel e6850 3.0 ghz(i wanted the wolfdale but it was out of stock)
    1 - evga 8800 gt 512 mb
    2 gigs Corsair ddr2 800
    western digital 250 gig HD
    Antec 500w psu

Please god make it work properly!

    I'm not an overclocker..... Yet.

Yeah the cpu might be a bottleneck. It's hard to say re: heat damage, but unless you're randomly rebooting I wouldn't worry too much. The specs on the new parts look good though. All solid parts that should work great together. If things go too slow for your liking you can always add another 8800 gt.

    Default another gt

Yeah unfortuantely that mobo only has one slot for vid card.... People say sli isnt worth it.... so i didnt bother worrying about it.... I'm thinking it should run fine as is though once the cpu gets here. I'll have to see.

Yeah crysis is one of the very few game warranting two or three vid cards right now, though it obviously depends on the monitor and resolution.

Have you reinstalled Windows and all, got all the drivers, the Dual Core Optimizer and such?

If you really want more fps for css i can give you some fps configs that give 60-80 more fps

    Computer:
    Intel Q6600 B3 | CM2X-6400C4 x4 (4gb) Ram | Seagate 500GB | Point Of View Geforce 8800GTX | Samsung 226BW 22"

I didn't know there was such a thing as a dual core optimizer..... I actually have a pirated version of windows to tell you the truth, i didnt know that was what the guy that built it was gonna do.... I need to get rid of it.... When I get the CPU I will be getting my own copy of windows, wiping the slate clean.. And starting fresh. As for the configs... I;ve tried them, with my lap top i used to use... And it took away from the game alot, ie; removing bodies and stuff..... I dont want to mess with the quality of the game... And they would have to be CAL friendly as well. Its hard to get everything to wokr in harmony I;m finding this alot as i build this PC. For example is the earthwatts 500w psu enough to power my future rig? sorry for the LONG reply but I NEED HELP!

I didn't see where there was an optimizer geared for anything except the AMD X2's.

Besides dual core optimizer, you should install CPU Control. Let that program be loaded in the system tray on startup automatically, and you won't be dissapointed
