Default Computer turned off while playing and now wont turn back on?

Hi all, I have a dilemma for you all. I was playing a game ( Fallout 3 ) and all of a sudden my computer just turns off. I try to turn it back on but it wont stay on. When I pressed the power button the fans came on for a brief moment then shut off. This happened a few more times and finally the computer came back to life. But now the monitor is not getting a signal from the comp and also the keyboard does not work. everything has been plugged in and I have not even touched the case for months so I don't know what is up. I upgraded this thing in 2005 so maybe its time for a new setup? Let me know if my computer can be saved or if I should start over. Thanks dudes!

    here are the specs:

Mobo- BFG TechForce 4 Ultra 939 NVIDIA nforce 4 ultra ATX AMD
    Processor - AMD athlon 64 3200 + MMX 3D Now 2.0 ghz
    Mem: 1 GB
Graphics card : GeForce 8600 GTS
    HD- 250 GB capacity

Let me know if you need any more info than that.

First thing that pops into my mind is a broken fan on either your cpu or gpu. Open your case, turn your pc on and check if the fans on either work

It's not broken fan because the computer is on right now and all three fans are running just fine. I just can't see anything because the keyboard is not responding and the monitor is not getting a signal. The power supply is a BFG 550W I believe.

I would be playing Fallout 3 and it would slow down a lot when lot of things were happening, like the computer could not take it. It did this every time I played a big game like fallout.

I just tried to use my keyboard on my gf's computer and it would not turn on. god,is the keyboard fried too? I've never had a catastrophic failure like this happen before.

I would have suggested overheating problems, you said the case hasn't been touched in months, dust collected and cause overheating. Now that you said the keyboard doesn't work is a bit weirder... Give it a good clean my idea first and check the heat paste on the CPU... heat paste lasts about 3 years, so you may need to reapply paste to the CPU... Good luck

I think its totally trashed. When I turn it on it does not boot up, it just sits there. I dont hear any of the boot up noises or beeps that it usually makes. The CD tray does not work and i even hooked up a new hard drive thinking that was the problem, but nothing changed. It just sits there.

My 1st guess would be the power supply followed by the mobo.
