Exclamation Game problems with Windows 7 Upgrade

Anytone having problem with running their games after upgrading to Windows 7?
I just bought a Alienware gaming laptop, the MX17 which came with Vista. It was running unbelievable until someone told me to upgrade to Windows 7!
After a nightmare upgrade the computer seems to be running great again except when I reinstalled COD: Modern Warfare. I have downloaded all the patches but it is still real glitchy!

Any help resolving these issues would be much appreciated!!!
    HELP!
    Thanks

Graphic card drivers m8. Updating directx might be worth doing also.

I wonder how many more of these upgrade errors we wiĺl receive in the following months. MS should have never ever given customers the option to upgrade. Just give them windows 7 as a fresh reinstall or stick with Vista if you dont like to go trough the trouble.

Ah well, it will give us some interesting errors in the next few months.

I bought the "UpGrade Version" and did a "Fresh Install". Here's the Activation Procedure for a clean install of Windows 7 using the "Upgrade" version and a new or reformatted PC with no installed OS.

After performing the clean install Cancel the Activation Window that appears at start-up. Ensure that there are no Windows Updates pending that would require a system reboot. (You'll see an orange shield icon next to Shutdown in the Start Menu if this is the case).

Then, open regedit.exe and navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE/

Change MediaBootInstall from "1" to "0".

Open the Start Menu again and type cmd to display a shortcut to the Command Line utility. Right-click this shortcut and choose "Run as administrator." Handle the UAC prompt.

In the command line window, type: slmgr /rearm

Then hit ENTER, close the command line window and reboot. When Windows 7 reboots, run the Activate Windows utility, type in your product key and activate windows. It should work.

Hmm, thanks for the info Slaymate. Now I will just have to convince my missus to do a fresh install on her laptop which will be nearly impossible.

Windows 7 is going to be the gaming os on my new pc which I will start building soon. Bought a new car so money is sparse right now. Mandriva 2010 will be it's main os to keep W7 clean and simple to run games efficiently.

lol it won't run better than Vista, except for when she is multitasking a lot or having little memory, i.e. 1 GB or less (source: Hardware.info magazine, issue 5/2009).

Anyway, just copy her C:/users/Gazz-s_missus folder to "save" her docs, images etc. Apps and her config files are a different matter though...

Do her a favor and put all her stuff on a separate data partition. And give her a dual boot with Mandriva (since that's what you are using) or Ubuntu (if she is new @ GNU/Linux and wishes good support from the community forum).

Afaik, DX 11 will also work on Vista, so why buy W6.2? Games perform the same as in W6.0, according Hardware.info magazine (again issue 5/2009). And paying 120 euros for a "service pack"? Come on...

About the car: did you carry out Jeremy Clarksons advice to let it be a VW Golf? Or at least, I hope you did not buy an american car because of the bad handling and crap suspension (leaf springs). Nor a Prius cause those aren't green at all and are build way to cheaply for a car having a "starting" price of roughly 25K Euro.

I am going to use my missus her keycode to install W7. There is no way I am paying for a os that is solely used for gaming and so vulnareble to malware and virusses and nothing else. Get Windows, get antivirus, get anti spyware, get firewall, get microsoft office and so on...please leave your wallet with us. I am planning on getting Mandriva 2010 powerpack though! Although Mandriva is completely free, 50 bucks to support their cause in making pcś safe for customers is worth it.

I bought a Hyundai I 20. Cheap, energy effecient and it got 5 stars (out of 5) in the crashtests. Simple and efficient. Cars are a waste of money anyway.... Rather spend that money on holidays or something!
