As Nintendo confirmed that the successor to the Wii will be coming out sometime in 2012, I thought it was time to post a thread about it. What we do know is that is will come out no sooner than 2012. Hopefully sooner than the holidays. There will be a playable version at E3 in June. I think that about covers what we actually know.
There are a bunch of rumors which include; it will be backwards compatible with Wii games, supposed to be more powerful than the 360 or the PS3, 1080i, two controlers; one basically like the wiimote and the other has a 6.1 inch touch screen that can stream things to and from the console, and it will be about as big as the 360 slim. It is rumored to be codenamed Project Cafe and will actually be called Nintendo Stream. Of course, that is all just rumor. If true though, it should make for a pretty sweet console and should be able to compete with the other two.
Hopefully they will fix the online and more third party devs will make some good games for it instead of these little party games the Wii has now. Of course, there is the other rumor that GTA 5 is either ready for the new console or will be when it comes out. If that is true, I would say that Nintendo got the Stream right! We will see just what it has and what it can do this June.
