    Default Windows 8

Microsoft has released Windows 8 Consumer Preview ISO images for its next big OS. Of course we all know that Windows 8 Consumer Preview ISO means public beta. Just like any other beta, the same rules apply; 'Windows 8 Consumer Preview is prerelease software that may be substantially modified before it’s commercially released. Microsoft makes no warranties, express or implied, with respect to the information provided here. Some product features and functionality may require additional hardware or software. If you decide to go back to your previous operating system, you'll need to reinstall it from the recovery or installation media that came with your PC.'

I am curious about W8 mainly due to the Xbox integration. However, I am not completely convinced that an OS basically made for tablets and phones is a great idea for a home computer. I would partition my drive and give it a shot, but I am way too lazy for that. For those of you that are not, here be the linky: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/iso.

If you do give it a shot, feel free to post your impressions here.

That's a HUUUUUUUUUGE reason I've been hearing around in tech circles since hearing info about Win8 that people won't switch over. It will obviously be a good thing for tablet users and the like who've had to suffer through using a 'default' Windows OS for their device, but on a computer? Meh... Stick with 7.

I tried the Window 8 Preview when it was released a few months ago, can't say that I'm a fan. While I'm sure there are some changes to this newer Windows 8 release I'm just not interested in it.

Got to agree with slay. The whole Metro UI just rubbed me the wrong way from the get-go I don't know if I'd even want a UI like that for my tablet!
You can kinda just ignore it tho when logging in and switch to "normal" desktop but then theres no more Start menu button! and no way to get it back!! also Aero can't be disabled My desktops have pretty much looked the same from 1995, damn it! I ain't about to change now!
Esthetics's aside it's very much like W7 with minor tweaks, performance and memory footprint are about the same on the X64 versions.
The only "new" feature that interests me is the return of hardware accelerated audio which I've missed since XP and I truly hope they decide to update W7 WASAPI to support it later as well.

Well, I would like to run Windows 8 on my tablet. The thought of being able to access all of my PC's thru my tablet or playing Windows games on my tablet would be awesome. But the Metro UI should be a mobile platform feature and optional with PC's, not the other way around.
