    Default Mobo question

So my new board is having a small problem of not booting since changing the PSU out a while ago. Turn it on, and no POST or anything. I popped the CMOS battery on it and tried again with just the bare essentials hooked up to get a POST and it came back fine and dandy.

However, knowing it had problems before, I plugged in things one at a time and powered the system on to see where the problem was. The second I plugged in my SATA drive and tried to power on, all of 'jack' and 'diddly' happened.

I know the board's fine from the look of it, and it can't be a power issue since the PSU has more wattage than the old one did which I've used for years with no problem (outside of the little PSU dying one). You think something's up with the SATA part of the board itself, or the cable, or...? I doubt it's the drive, it just doesn't seem likely that a HDD can just completely keep a computer from POSTing and booting.

It sounds like the drive, they usually start doing weird stuff or they die suddenly.

If it was a problem with the power supply or the sata controller it would also be affecting your optical drive. If it's the HD data cable the PC would start up but you wouldn't see the drive. The fact that it doesn't start when you plug power to the drive tells me the drive is dying. I recommend copying/backing up your important data immediately.
