    Default Diablo 3 Beta

If you didn't get into the D3 beta, you are in luck as D3 is now in open beta to everyone until Monday. Woohoo? If you already have a battlenet account, just go here to download the client. If you don't have a bnet account, you can make one for free at that link as well. You can play all five classes up to level 13 as well as play with friends. Should interest some of you at least.

Personally, I am not a fan of bnet nor having to be online all the damn time to play, however since I will be reformatting in the next couple weeks, I am going to give it a shot. Maybe it will better than I think. Doubt it though.

Well, after playing Friday and yesterday, I will not be buying D3. Even though it was a sorta fun and I know it was just a beta, there is just too many things about it that screams don't buy me. For one, the always online thing is a real pain in the ass. Trying to get connected was a bitch and staying connected was rough as well. Again, I realize that this is just a beta, but there is just something that tells me this is how it will always be. Another thing that is off putting is the fact that you can't save it anywhere. It will only save at checkpoints and if you get disconnected before you get to the next one, you are starting all the way back. Wasn't too happy that the fog of war would always come back either. If I take the time to get rid of all of it, I want it to stay that way.

If there was on offline mode and LAN, I would be more than happy to buy it. As it does not, Torchlight 2 will be my dungeon crawler this year. Sad to see you go Diablo.

Well, technically the prior two games did this as well. You could quit anywhere you wanted and it'd save what items/gold/etc you had, but you'd reload the game from Tristram or whatver encampment you happened to be at and have to continue to the next waypoint. If you hadn't gotten to a waypoint yet (in say, the Stony Field in D2), all your progress for that zone would be erased, obviously not including quest completion though.
