    Default Next Xbox Rumors

New consoles are coming. We alllll know it and we also all know that they are going to be rumors about the next version of said console every other day until something official is released. As there have been numerous rumors concerning Durango, Xbox 720, Next Xbox, or Xbox lately, thought it would be nice to have them all in one place and see how many of them are actually true when it does get revealed. Now keep in mind that everything listed in this thread is pure speculation and rumors. And feel free to add any I have missed.

It is due out this Christmas season - I can see this happening. 95%

It will require a constant internet connection - This seems a little out there to me as it would alienate a lot of people who have spotty internet or none at all. I would give this one 90% due to recent comments from EA

It will block used games and require you to enter a code everytime you get a new game - Even though I know those greedy bastards would love to do this, I just do not see this happening. Went into this in another thread so, I will move on. Chance that it happens? 90% again, due to recent comments by EA (which are below)

It will have a blu ray player - I can see this being true as well. 99%

It will have a 500GB HDD and mandatory installs - Still on the fence about this one. I can believe the the 500gb hdd, but to force installs? Even though the rumor is that you can play whilst it installs in the background. No percent for this one.

It will come with a new version of Kinect - I have no doubt this is true cause why wouldn't they shove it on there? 99%

Here is my personal favorite rumor thus far: It will require the Kinect to be plugged in and calibrated for the damn xbox to even work!!!! - This one is out there. Who wants their game console spying on them? I do not want to believe this is true, but I have a bad feeling. 70%

The new Kinect will be able to track six individual people and auto sign them in - While this sounds great in theory, I have read that it also means they can/will use it to know how many people are playing a game or watching a movie and do some pretty bad things. 70% as well because if you have to have the Kinect running, it is not a far stretch to assume this is there as well.

Just read http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/1...9#.URu5GmcbLRd over on Gamasutra.
The part I find most interesting are the last two paragraphs:

"Would we like to sell everything at full price and not have a used game market? Sure. But I think the used game market's a little like any other kind of market where it creates liquidity. The fact is, that liquidity benefits us in some fashion. So if someone goes in and trades in a game, there's a good chance they're going to buy another one of our games. And so if there's a liquid market, I think that that's not a bad thing at all.

"I can't really comment on where the next generation boxes are going to be relative to used games. I will say that the trend in the business is to have that always-on connectivity and connect with a customer, and to the extent that the software identifies a certain customer is going to create some issues going down the road in the used game market. But I do believe that the consumer likes it, and it's been good for the retail channel."

This tell me that always on and blocking used game is likely. Just awful.

I am sure there are more, but I felt like those are the biggies. Let's pretend all the rumors listed above are true, it seems to me that the next Xbox will suck donkey balls. That is some pretty damning stuff as far as I am concerned.

    Whatcha think?
