To be honest I'm not at all surprised by this news, personally I still find it hard too swallow that a company like Valve could of let a hacker get access too the source code for a million pound project so easily, makes you wonder if the project was already having problem's, ie Steam and this gives them a reason too put its release back to 2004. :bucky!:

okay thats a pretty extremely narrow minded assumption.

coding something like hl2 costs an obscene amount of money. the guys at valve were almost done when the leak took place, and what they got was mainly the networking code, which is pretty much exactly what hackers and cheating bastards want. The code they stole is worth a huge load of money, so faking the leak would be downright stupid. I'm guessing you think that they needed a good reason to delay the game, but the thing is that valve could've just SAID they needed extra months to make it perfect, but they really didn't, and the game would be out by xmas.

This is a sad day, and people like you need to think through what you're posting before you actually do it.

Torch the guy who stole the source code!

Why do you people think that Valve leaked the source code on purpose?! ;)

I saw the Valve Source code leak discussed on national TV last night. "No suspects as of yet".

Those hackers have gotten themselves into a world of shit for the chance to cheat at multiplayer. People are gonna do time over this.

this is god damn f**king tragic!
first of all, now i hate valve even more, not only do they f**k things up with steam, but they also managed to keep the source code connected to the internet, thanks to the no-brainers we have to wait until april 2004, but then again, thanks to the no-brainers we do eventually get to play half life 2..
but the question is, how good will it be when it gets released ?
if they had released it now out it would have stood out as possibly the greatest game, but in april 2004, will it "just" be good and go into the lines of many other good games that could have been great.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R oblivion lost is looking mighty good, and mighty tempting.
we get, far cry, doom3, hidden and dangerous 2, stalker oblivion lost, max payne 2 etc, all this before half life 2 gets released, they had the upper hand, now they`ve lost it.

Some things are not ment to go public. The guys at Valve have been working with this code for 5 years!!!
Every experienced gamer on earth knows about HL2 and id bet that everyone was looking forward to it.

The fans and the developers are furious and all that because of (a couple? one?) extremely idiotic fool(s)!

    Confess your sins, childe.
