Do u want to know if you have an intel motherboard or AMD? or do u want to know the company? You have to be really specific otherwise its not to easy to find out...Most motherboards from computers that aren't custom built are Intel based. By seeing what kind of processor u already have, that should tell u what kind of motherboard u can get. If you have an Intel p4 1.5ghz now, u have a motherboard that supports intel based systems. Same way with AMD processors. If you want to know if the bus speed is compatible and other things, you are better off contacting the place u bought the PC from- asking for specific details...

Because i want to upgrade without having to buy a new motherboard.

Look for a program called "aida32" I think Major geeks website has it.
Run it and it will tell you lots of info about your system.

You can probably run something around 1 ghz, but nothing really more than 1.6-1.7 probably.
