A lot of people seem to have problems regarding SIMS 2 and Direct X 9.0c. I'll explain
it and suggest some solutions.
First of all, you have to make sure what Graphicscard you have inside your computer.
If you do not know how to find out which one you have, follow these steps:- Click [Start] -> [Run] and type dxdiag
go to the Display Tab and write down the Name, Manufacturer and Chiptype
Now back to the Error you got:
Failed to find any directx 9.0c compatiable grpahics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have directx 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer the opperation will now terminate.
This is a major problem. If your graphic device is a IntelĀ® Extreme Graphics LOWER than a 82845, 82865, 82915, your journey ends here. This is an onboard graphic device and NOT compatible to Direct X9.0c. You have to buy a new graphicscard or, the cheaper solution, bring the game back to the store as it won't run on your machine.
HOVEWER, you may try this link and follow these instructions by INTEL to see if it helps. Let's hope so. (If it has helped you, please drop a note in here, so we know - thanks
)
Unable to Install Direct X 9.0c.
That's not too bad. If you have any nVidia or ATI graphicscard, you should get yourself new drivers here and after that try to reinstall Direct X 9.0 off the CD.
After a reboot, the problem should be solved.
If you just wonder if SIMS 2 will run on your system you can compare your setting to them here listed:
If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM (such as nvidia GeForce 2 or better or ATI Radeon 7000 or better) then you need at least:- 600 MHz P3 processor
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
128 MB RAM if Windows 98
If you have a non-T&L capable video card (such as TNT2 for example) then you need at least:- 1.5 GHz processor
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
128 MB RAM if Windows 98
Recommended video cards (and the more video memory the better):- ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Nvidia Geforce 4 or FX series cards
If you have any futher questions, comments or additions, feel free to post them here. And Good luck solving your problem.

haha, that video card is so 20th century. anyways; try the top ones of this page you may have to install direct x 9.0c after that again. Good luck! Hopefully works.
