HL2 Game of the Year?

The wait has certainly paid off, HL2 blows aways Doom 3, Far Cry easily.

I know everyone is going to bang on about fan boys etc but there can't be any denying the HL2 experience is awesome. While some of the features are not revolutionary the exectution is almost flawless. Most of my mates have old mid range graphics card like the nvidia 5600 and can run it high at 60 Fps smooth as glass. Only problems Ive had is with sound popping but when the gameplay is this good, who cares....

Im gonna smack that Breen real hard when I get my hands on him :nxs:

HL2 Game of the Year, I reckon so :thumbup:

I bet goes to HALO 2. HL2 might be a very good game but it didn't make the cut.

Some of the set pieces are brilliant :thumbup: The section through Ravensholm is just superb, with wave after wave of Zomies and head crabs (especially those quicker more deadly black crabs) is just an amazing experience. You actually feel the game environment as well as see it. I experienced this in very, very small doses in Farcry but nothing like this.

The close-quarter fire fights with the Combine in the warehouses and the like are just great :thumbup: This is nothing new and has been executed in many games before, but the difference here is it has been done right this time

I personally can't fault the game, apart from the sound issues. even though i have a top end sound card it still seems to cause problems every now and then.

And nobody can forget the horrendous loading times and loading points, but it's not that big a deal when you know that the action is going to be thick and fast again in no time at all.

Before anybody starts, i'm not a ****** fan boy. I just appreciate a cracking game when i see one.
