Hi guys, I've noticed in few post that there are some new drivers out...I don't know a whole lot about drivers and stuff...To be honest, I don't know anything... I need someone to advise me on what to download for my video card. I tried downloading the ATi Catalyst 4.11 or whatever and it severly messed up my computer (ie everything got slow, and games were unplayable so I uninstalled it)

    My specs are:

    AMD Athlon 3400+
    ATi 9800 pro 128mb
I have no idea how to look up my driver... but here is a screenshot of the dxdiag display screen

    To Check your ATI Drivers,

    1.Right click on your desktop
    2.Go to Properties
    3.Go to Settings
4.in the left hand corner of settings should be "Advanced" Click it
5.Then you'll see a teahatload of things to click on, Click on the one called "Options"
6.It should give you your ATI Drivers, (For Ex: 4.9 or 4.10) or which ever ones you have

Oh and i reccomend downloading the 4.12Beta's that NXS posted in the forums a while back they kick ass for CS:S and i know you play it... also helps with Mohaa:SH and many other games... i know it give me like 20FPS more in all my games

    How this Helps,

    Arch

What is it for? And if I set it on high, will it slow down game-performance?

3D - then go to own preferences and watch around there. you should be able to find it. I still don't know what it does though.

AI is only in CCC versions, not the ones without. I just installed the CCC version, enabled it, removed CCC, and double checked my registry to make sure its still enabled.

AI is a set of shader swaps and optomizations. Nvidia enables their optomizations on default and have had them for a while.

The difference between ATI AI and nvidia's optomizations?

AI doesn't have any drop whatsoever in image quality, nvidia's do, and sometimes a noticable one.

Nvidia's are also a bit more powerful optomizations.. but ATi is working at it.
