hey ye guys, a while ago i found that the computer of the family was infested with around 150 viruses, and needed to be cleansed. so i made backups, but in the recovery disc and cleansed my C: and D: disk of all its contents. it worked fine with no problems at all. after finished, i installed AVAST!, Hitman Pro, Firefox and some other windows updates to keep the computer safe running. after done this i shut the computer down and got to bed.

when i woke up my sister said the computer refused to do ANYTHING. every account led to a blank wallpaper with no startbar at all, except for the account i worked with with u[pdating and installing. it had icons and the startbar, but after clicking on an icon it shut itself off completely from any input of the keyboard or mouse. it was just wallpaper with icons, but you couldn't click anything anymore...

    i need help!

*edit* i tried reinstalling windows XP but that gave the same situation...

If you have installed your graphics driver, you might need to install the motherboard drivers for the AGP bus if you havent done so already... thats all I can think of that would cause those anomolies tbh.

Did you Reformat fully, with a completely fresh installation using the Windows Reformat partition option?
