As stated before, here's the new suggestion and discussion tread, cleaned the other one up and closed it. Take it away people

Slay's tip about that AMD site was great. It seems my laptop will run better now (having installed the dualcore optimizer), when playing M2: Total War with the graphics set to 99% of the maximum.

I know a few things :-) Mostly I know a lot of people and I know
a few really good places to look for info. I'll try to find a couple more
handy tidbits this weekend when I have more time :-)

The best tool for Hyperthreaded or multiple core systems in my software library is CPU-Control. It works on all brands of CPUs and is FREE. It runs in multiple modes, where a complete novice will gain performance with the auto-mode and proper enthusiasts, like me, can go far more granular and achieve even better results.
Give it a try, I am sure you will love it.

How about you make a short summary of it's functions then and give us a proper download link. I'll put it in the advanced section (I'll create that) of the free software thread. Unless you would like that advanced part to become a separate topic with stuff like Rivatuner, omega drivers, ati tray tools and more of that stuff.

Yeah ok, I will have a go on the way home on the train. It is a bit difficult browsing at work, because this is my first job where someone is sat behind me and they can see what I do. God knows what they must think when they see you sig on my screen!

I think it is more a matter of how the lady "as whole" is.
(I am sure you get my meaning)

Hey Gm2, could you give us more info about that cpu-optimizer program of yours? When it comes to optimising cpu/gpu's, I am quite a layman.
Thanks in advance!

Gazz, I have got a suggestion for this topic's twin brother. If I were you, I should put the description in a smaller font, below the head. For example:
[size=14] Disk (de)fragmentation
[size=7] (description)
[size=1] Sugested software
But it seems I have trouble getting that lay-out in this post
