Too Human
Usually, I am not one to argue with my fellow reviewers. However, in this case, I disagree so much that I thought I would intervene. I know! Unlike me isn't it?
Now, I will say this, after ten damn years, the game should have been better that it was. That does in no way mean it deserves a 6.5 though. Granted, I have not played through the whole game yet nor have I played the MP side of it. I have spent ten hours on the demo alone though and I am working on the full game.
If I had to rate it thus far it would be closer to an eight. Why? Tis damn fun! Is it some genre redefining game? Most likely not. It is fun as hell though and I swear, most of you dungeon crawler game lovers will like it!
6.5 does not do Too Human justice in my book.
I will write my user review when and if I get a chance Seriously though, all kindsa fun

I gotta agree with you.
The game isn't a classic by any means, but the scores this game is getting are ridiculous. Yes, it gets repititious, but the draw of finding loot does keep it interesting.
Not to mention, where is the love for a developer actually coming up with an innovative control scheme that works?
I just don't see the justification for a score that low in the review. It almost seems like the general media went into this game with the score fixed in their collective mind and looked for a way to justify it. The final line in the review is a comment that the reviewer is looking forward to playing more of the trilogy. On a 6.5 game?! 6.5 warrants trashcanning the game and shutting down the development house for delivering garbage. It certainly isn't a score that would encourage me to want more!
I do know that with some of the major publishers putting up very low scores, getting a realistic review score published in GH would have been very hard, so I'm guessing the final score was cut before getting published.
This game is an 8/10, or at worst 7.5/10.
So, to sum up the GH review:
Innovative and intuitive control scheme
Good voice acting
Very good and entertaining back story
interesting loot
Some bugs
repititive gameplay
How the hell does that equate to a 6.5??????????????
I'd be interested to see if the reviewer is willing to justify his score here.

6.5 out of 10 means you passed the test in real life. Why shouldn't the reviewer be looking forward to playing the next part in the trilogy if it passed? 65 out of 100 still means you passed the critical minimum.
I guess we are too focussed on a 10 for a game to admire the potential jewels that get a lower score. Not all games are the new GTA, MGS4 or Bioshock or deserve that status. Sores like 85, 75 or even 65 are more then ok for some games in overcrowded genres.

The score is not the entire problem here. I would be ok with the score if, as Bucky pointed out, the review matched the score given and I don't think it does.

If you actually bothered to read my entire post, you will see that I call the game a 7.5-8. The review on the front page is not a review for a 6.5 game.

If you didn't enjoy the demo, then pass on the game. The full game is basically a lot of the demo

Hey Bucky et. al,
I gladly entertain any and all discussion over a game, anytime. On the other hand, however, any debates we might have won't be an effort to "justify" a score I give; the review is the justification in itself.
So, that being said, let's discuss...
True, there are pluses to the game which I liked, and which you pointed out (VOs, story, etc). The problem is, however strong and interesting those aspects may be, they're don't make up the bulk of the experience, they're only highlights. In fact, the overwhelming let-down, which I point out, is the monotonous/repetitious nature of a short game; things just get too stale after putting in 40+ hours.
Gathering loot is fun, we see that in WoW, but where's the diversity in using it? No PvP, only ever-harder enemies who will always look and behave the same.
The game is fun for awhile, but there becomes a point where the draw of gathering equipment redlines because of repeating action. Hence why I want more, but why this first game leaves me bored.
What are your thoughts? Maybe they will change after splurging many hours on the game?
There are strengths, just not enough of them.
