WOLFENSTEIN - f*ck the reviews

After reading alot of reviews that put the crap stamp all over the game I still got it(the older ones know I'm a id software fanboy.
This game just rocks. The first couple of minutes i thought it was rather lame too. But then the game gets really good and the missions are becoming freaking intense. oldschool "shoot everything that moves" gameplay almost at it's best(return to castle is still better imo).
The hub is rather useless and i would have preffered the oldschool one mission after another approach but heck, still damn fine game.

The engine might be dated but raven sure pulled out some graphic tricks out of their arms and legs here. in fact I prefer this to alot of those new graphics that are just to sterile for my taste. I mean games like crysis, where even the dirt is clean. The firefights are some of the best in the run'n'gun genre. Only the guns sound like those toyguns that shoots dry beans. But I actually havn't heard any real good gunsounds in games for a loooooooooong time.

This time they even tried to give wolfenstein more story. while it's nothing you remeber after turning off the game, it keeps the missions and motivation going while ya playing.
You can also see that the chars got more polys compared to the older D3 engine games(DooM3 and PREY). There are no longer mega sqaure heads running around. and the texture details are pretty good. while not the sharpest textures in town, it shows that megatextures is working and with RAGE it will be hi-res full blast(at least from the screen shots).

I'm still playing the SP and this is one of the very rare games that actually gets better the more you play. most games nowadays blow out all the FX and candies right at the beginning and gets downhill in gameplay right after the first couple of levels.
So far I havn't played a mission in Wolfenstein that bore me. they were all fun to play and some where fantasitc.

Unfortunitly it's not all sugar'n'candy in Isenstadt. Actually it's funny that it's spelled Isenstadt because it pronounced "Eisenstadt"(Iron Town/Ville)
Besides the obvious fact that the DooM3 or idTech4 Engine is old by now and doesn't blast out the next graphic standard there is still the MP.

OMG, this must be the one of the worst ever programmed. Don't get me wrong, the MP gameplay is ace. It's pretty much the same as Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Objective driven and mad fun. There is also TDM and some timer thingy mode but I don't care for those.
Back to the problem: This game has the worse netcode I have witness in recent years. While I apreciate that they actually have a fake server list(it's still P2P[or whatever ya wanna call it] hostin) it takes forever to load.
There are some serious lag problems in this game and sometimes even with full connection bar it might drop form one moment to the other without any appearent reason. But if you find a good host where the connection is't dropping you can have a pretty fun match. I sure had one with Bucky in TDM.

[for XBOX 360 Version]Unfortunitly the team that made the MP part was externally hired and got fired right after the game got released. So i doubt we see any patches fixing the netcode problem. Unless Raven or id software does it themself, which i kinda doubt. Activision sure won't do jackshit about it.
Akherosine says the PC version doesn't have that problem but i can't back his statement....and I don't trust swiss people. seriously, would you trust a guy who makes cheese with wholes in it?

I wouldn't recommand that game to everyone. Onlyto the oldschool shooters who still enjoy the fast pase FPS gameplay of the good ol days when games where fun to play instead of just looking good. But I do wanna recommand everyone to at least rent it and play the first 3 missions. if the gameplay didn't catch you by then then chances are low that the rest will.

This is a game I just like and didn't have to force myself to like it. I just play it because it's fun and not because i kinda force myself to play it. I didn't have that much fun with an FPS game for a long time. It's not CoD nor KillZone nor whatever. It's classic id software fun....besides the hub thingy which was rather unnessecary since they never did anything gameplaywise with it.

And to those who did play it and didn't like it: go fuck yourself you guinea cock sucking faggot. go play one of your hypeware crap

I don't think it is all that great! When I first played the MP demo of Return to Castle Wolfenstein all those many years ago, I could not stop playing it til the game came out and then played the game until BF 1942 came out. Wolfenstein is just your average shooter that could have been and should have been soooo much more!

Wolvenstein feels like a console game on PC, that's not a good thing. The game is ok, but seems to lack depth and width in it's levels. I had that same issue with BF1943 on console, levels appaered to have a cramped feel.
